A 10-year-old boy died from his injuries Tuesday morning after being struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle.

A 10-year-old boy died from his injuries Tuesday morning after being struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle.

According to Stacey Page Online, Kurt Engler of Winona Lake died at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Winona Lake Police Officer Mike Foster says the accident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. at CR 250 East and Lexington Drive. Witnesses said the boy failed to stop at a stop sign and rode into the path of the truck, driven by Richard Riedel of Mentone.

The boy was transported to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital in critical condition. A medical helicopter was requested, but was disregarded due to extended flight time.
