LAKEVILLE, Ind. -- As more cars go electric, some remote control cars are operating on gas engines.
They'll be running all weekend in the annual Bob Newton Memorial Races, named in honor of the former president of Hoosier Racing Tire.
It's just one more way to make sure no one forgets the man behind some of the best racing tires in the world.
“Bob Newton started this with Hoosier Tire. Newton Park is a place for kids to play,” said Bob Louk, the event organizer. “This is why we're here. We want to support that and keep his legacy going - keep the park going.”
The races start at 9 a.m. Saturday, along with a model car show and a real car show.
There's also a bicycle race for kids at noon.
