The Second Annual Blues and Ribs Festival has taken over Coveleski Stadium.
Hundreds of people filled the ballpark Saturday morning to kick off the day-long event put on by the South Bend Parks and Rec Department.
Folks are enjoying the delicious food and music, with five blues bands from across the country taking the stage Saturday.
The proceeds will support the design and construction of Miracle Park, a facility in the works on the city's northwest side that will serve children with special needs in the community.
“When I was growing up they didn't have that kind of park. I think it would have been better if they did because it would help people's self esteem, and that way they could get out in the community and do different activities such as tennis, basketball, baseball, that kind of thing,” said Brian Kovach an attendee.
If you'd like to support the cause and join in on fun, the festival is still going on Saturday night.
This year's headline act, Jimmie Vaughan & the Tilt-a-Whirl Band, is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $24 and can be purchased online or at The Cove.
