Bishop Kevin Rhoades leads Good Friday celebration in South Bend

Bishop Kevin Rhoades was in town on this Good Friday to lead the celebration of the Passion of the Lord at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in South Bend.

The Fort Wayne-South Bend bishop led congregants at St. Matthews in a packed afternoon mass.

“It's an important day to stop from the everyday routine to reflect on the central mystery of our faith of God's great love for us revealed in the death of his Son,” said Bishop Rhoades.

Good Friday is Christians’ day of penance marked by abstinence and fasting.

A reminder if you were planning on taking the bus. TRANSPO is closed for Good Friday. Regular service will resume on Saturday.
City and county government offices will also be closed in observance, including South Bend and Mishawaka.

And you won't be able to do business at the Indiana BMV as all offices are closed. The U.S. Postal Service will still deliver mail.

Bishop Rhoades will celebrate the Easter Vigil mass Saturday evening at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne.
