GOSHEN A community is taking action to help prevent bicycle thefts. Goshen Police are taking donations to buy tracking devices for their Bicycle Bait program.
In the past, officers would put "bait" bicycles out in the public and hide until someone stole it; then they'd make the arrest.
That method proved to be a drain on resources, so the department is purchasing tracking devices for the bicycles, so the offer doesn't have to be there when it's stolen.
Tax-deductible donations can be made to “The Goshen Police Department,” noted for “Bicycle Theft Abatement.” Just mail the check to the police department at 111 E Jefferson St, Goshen, IN 46528.
The bait bicycles are taken from the city’s unclaimed bicycle collection.
