Mishawaka, Ind. – The Bethel College men's basketball team ended the game on a 12-0 run to defeat archrival Grace College 69-62 on Senior Day inside the Wiekamp Athletic Center.
The Pilots (23-7, 12-6) would struggle shooting the basketball connecting on only 48 percent of their attempts including 11-of-31 (35 percent) in the first half. Additionally, they would hit only two shots from beyond the arc on 18 attempts (11 percent). Despite poor shooting the Pilots would stay in the game by their defensive efforts holding the Lancers (16-13, 8-10) to 35 percent for the game including 29 percent in the second half.
Matt Schauss would continue his solid play scoring a game-high 25 points while hauling down six rebounds and distributing four assist. Seniors Ryan Benner and Patrick Oettingwould add 12 points, respectively. Benner would grab a team-best eight boards while Oetting had six. Landon Booker would provide a great boost off the bench to provide 10 points, three assists and two steals.
The win earns the Pilots the No. 4 seed in the Crossroads League tournament where they will host No. 5 Marian University on Wednesday, February 26 at 7:00pm.
