Berrien County, Mich. A Berrien County teen, serving time in prison for the shooting death of her live-in boyfriend, has lost a bid to withdraw her guilty plea.
That's according to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium.
Last October, Destiny Coulson, who's now 18, was sentenced to 14 to 30 years behind bars for second-degree murder.
Now, nearly a year later, Coulson's claims that her then-lawyer had been ineffective and made costly errors in her case, have been rejected. A judge denied the teen's motion to withdraw her plea at a hearing Wednesday.
Coulson was charged with shooting 21-year-old David Quinn Junior back in January of 2012. The couple apparently had an argument at his Eau Claire home that led to gunshots. Coulson is expected to appeal.
Because she pleaded guilty, the Michigan court of appeals may or may not choose to hear the case.
