Berrien County, Mich. Berrien County Sheriffs have received a $10,000 gift for a new K9 unit. Their current dog, Diesel, will be retiring soon, due to back issues. His handler Marc Hopkin will also be transferring.
Tuesday, the Berrien County Kennel Club presented the check to the sheriff's department so they can buy and train a new K9.
They were inspired by a presentation last month, given by two deputies. The K9 dogs work mostly in the narcotics unit but also need to be ready 24/7 to find missing persons or to track down suspects.
