Berrien County, Mich. Eight Berrien County school districts are adding a new security feature.
The NaviGate Prepared system stores resources like call lists, staff photos, and maps for an emergency. When first responders get on the scene, the system lets them to access the info in real-time.
Bridgman was the first to use it during a drill, and later during a lockdown and nearby bomb threat at a nearby Rite Aid. That's according to our reporting partners at WSJM.
The new districts getting navigate include Berrien Springs, Brandywine, Buchanan, Lakeshore, New Buffalo, River Valley, St. Joseph and Watervliet.
The system can also come in handy for everyday problems schools face, like electrical and water issues, or medical emergencies.
