Benton Harbor community groups and the Soup Kitchen of Benton Harbor have benefitted from the Senior PGA Championship that was recently held in the city.
Thursday the PGA of America announced that through its partnership with Levy Restaurants, it donated more than $42,000 to the local community groups and $7,800 in food to the soup kitchen.
Levy Restaurants partnered with several non-profit organizations in the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph communities to provide volunteers for the championship, and support charitable causes.
Volunteers from five groups managed concessions stands at Harbor Shores during the championship and earned donations for their organizations.
Following the championship, Levy Restaurants also donated thousands of dollars in food.
