Benton Township Officials in Benton Township are asking citizens to help them replace an aging fleet of public safety vehicles.
According to our reporting partners at The Herald-Palladium, officers say they are riding in vehicles with more than 160,000 miles on them. The fire chief says some of his engines have logged more than 15,000 hours.
They want voters to approve a one-time tax on August 5 that would raise more than $500,000. Such a tax would cost a homeowner about $112 dollars for a house valued at $150,000.
