Kalamazoo, Mich. - A Benton Harbor teen is relieved following his acquittal on charges related to a fire that killed three young children.
That’s according to our reporting partners at WSJM Radio.
Fred Glespie, 19, was charged in the Feb. 18 fire at Interfaith Homes in Kalamazoo that killed Jonetta Woods' 3-year-old twins and the children's 1-year-old sister.
Authorities say the children were left in the care of a 5-year-old child, who survived.
Wood claims she asked Glespie, her then boyfriend, to watch the children, but several witnesses came forth in the trial saying that wasn’t true.
Court documents also showed that Woods had a history of leaving the children alone.
The little girl that survived is now in the custody of other relatives.
