Benton Harbor headed to boys hoops state semifinals

Godwin Heights looked unbeatable until they came across the boys from Benton Harbor.

Jaton Gunn scored 20 points and Benton Harbor handed the state's number one ranked team Godwin Heights its first loss of the season 68-61 in the Class B State Quarterfinals Tuesday night in Middleville.

Benton Harbor, which entered the post-season with just an 11-9 record, has now won five post-season games are headed to the Breslin Center Friday night at 6pm to face Cadillac in the State Semifinals.

A win Friday sends the Tigers to the Class B State Championship Game Saturday at the Breslin Center.

Benton Harbor couldn't have started the game better, jumping out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter. They were up 11 at halftime. Godwin Heights pulled within 3 in the 4th quarter before Gunn made a clutch bucket to secure the Benton Harbor victory.
