Benton Harbor headed to boys hoops state finals for first time since 1993

Cortez Moore was on fire to start the game and Benton Harbor never looked back cruising to a 69-52 win over Cadillac in the Class B State Semifinals at the Breslin Center Friday night.

The Tigers are now off to the State Championship game for the first time since 1993 Saturday at 6:30 at Michigan State. Benton Harbor last won the state title in 1965.

Moore finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Benton Harbor, which jumped out to a 17-11 lead after one quarter and a 37-20 lead at halftime. The Tigers pushed the lead to as many as 26 points in the 2nd half.

Jaton Gunn scored 13 points, John Robinson added 11 and Curtis Dawson had 10 for the Tigers, which finished the regular season with just an 11-9 record but have now won six straight games to reach the state finals.
