Benton Harbor to discuss city income tax Monday

Benton Harbor, Mich. A packed house is expected at Monday’s meeting on a proposed Benton Harbor city income tax.

According to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium, protesters are expected at tomorrow night's meeting.

The tax would have to be approved by voters. If approved, residents would pay one percent, and non-residents a half a percent.

Several other Michigan cities already have the tax in place, but residents and employees have pushed back against the proposal.

Monday's town hall is at 6 p.m. at Benton Harbor city hall.
