BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Benton Harbor's mayor said it's time to give the city a new lease on life, with better branding.

According to our reporting partners at WSJM, James Hightower said the city government is perceived as unstable because of past behavior, and the fact that Benton Harbor went through state takeover.

He's proposed re-branding the city to change what he says are negative perceptions from the outside world.

Hightower hopes officials will hash out his idea during an upcoming city commission planning session.
