SOUTH BEND, Ind. - On Saturday, a benefit will be held to help lessen the financial burden on the family of John Swoveland Junior. The two-year-old was killed by a stray bullet while playing outside on Campeau Street in South Bend.
Police say that bullet came from a gun battle between two rival gangs about three blocks away, near Coquillard Park.
Eight people have been charged in connection with Swoveland's death.
The benefit will be held at Chippewa Bowl in South Bend.
It begins at 5 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m.
The cost is $20 and includes two hours of bowling, as well as pizza, pop, and music.
