Wednesday, veterans were honored for continuing to serve their communities long after war.
Maggie Scroope, from Beacon Health System, says, “We do everything we can to support them and make sure that when they come home or when they are here that they have access to jobs, health care, all the things that they deserve coming home from fighting for our country.”
Deputy Mayor Mark Neal says, “It's very important that we do honor those veterans back here in our community and make sure they do have those employment opportunities as we dedicate their service and know that they still have a lot to give and provide.”
Beacon Health System held their second annual Salute to Service event to honor current and past military members. Many of the veterans now work in local hospitals, to protect the health of Michiana residents.
Beacon Health System employs nearly two hundred veterans.
