Bank robbery, pursuit ends in apparent suicide

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind.- The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police are currently investigating an alleged bank robbery. The suspect entered the First Financial Bank of North Manchester shortly after 6 p.m. Friday. After apparently robbing a bank teller, the suspect fled and police pursued him.

A North Manchester police officer pursued the suspect into Kosciusko County on State Rd. 13. Shortly after, the suspect stopped his vehicle on State Rd. 13 near the intersection of State Rd. 14, but refused to exit.

A gun went off inside the pickup truck, and officers from South Whitley Police Department approached the vehicle. The suspect was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Kosciusko County Coroner arrived and pronounced the victim dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The name of the suspect has not been released.
