Early morning fire damages house in St. Joe County

Firefighters from at least four departments responded to a house fire in St. Joseph County early Sunday morning.

It happened around 7:20 a.m., at an abondoned farm house near New Road and Beech Road. Medics were called to the scene.

Multiple callers told dispatch responders they saw flames from the upstairs of the home.

The house was englufed in flames, causing firefighters to use defense-mode techniques in battling the blaze. Wakarusa, Madison Township, Penn Township and St. Joseph County all responded to the incident. First responders also used tankers on scene, since no fire hydrants were nearby.
