UPDATE: 44-year-old South Bend man recovering after Friday night shooting

A South Bend man is recovering after being shot in the back late Friday night.

Police were called to the scene of a shooting that occurred in South Bend at the intersection of Wilber and Humboldt in the area of Muessel Grove Park.

At 10:17 p.m. Friday night a shooting was confirmed. Police say they are actively pursuing three suspects.

Ernest Clark, 44, was taken to the hospital. He is listed in serious condition but his injuries are not life threatening, according to Capt. Phil Trent.

The victim told police that he was riding his moped on Wilber Street and saw three teenagers at the intersection. He told investigators that the teens fired at least three shots at him. The victim was hit twice in the back.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting. If you have any information, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
