INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is extending hours at its license branches Monday and Tuesday so people can obtain state ID cards and driver's licenses for use at polling places for the primary election.

BMV commissioner Don Snemis says the branches will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. He says to ensure voters have immediate access to services, license branches will only process ID cards, driver's licenses and learner's permits. Driver's tests will not be given.

The BMV provides free, state-issued ID cards for voting purposes to any unlicensed Indiana resident as long as he or she can provide proper documentation. License branches will resume normal business hours and operations on Wednesday.
