Autopsy shows murder-suicide responsible for Culver deaths

Police have determined that a murder-suicide is responsible for the two men found dead in a Culver home last week.

Last Wednesday, November 28, Culver Police and EMS responded to the 400 block of West Madison Street to look into a situation where two men were found unresponsive.

The autopsy results released Tuesday revealed that 16-year-old Stephen Suthard died of multiple gunshot wounds after Michael Price shot him. Investigators say that Price then took his life by a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are not revealing any motive for the murder at this time.

Price and Suthard were close family friends. The 44-year-old's obituary even lists the Suthard family as some of those he leaves behind.

While the sequence of events on that Wednesday afternoon remain unclear, some details have come to light.

A source close to the victim's family said that Suthard's parents had asked Price to pick him up from school at around 1 p.m.

Price's wife arrived at their home just hours later to find both Price and Suthard dead, according to police.

The autopsy results have left Culver residents confused and hoping that answers will bring the families involved some peace.

" We need closure,: said Lisa Mahler, who lives across the street from where the murder-suicide happened. "There's a bunch of stories going around."
