Students at Holy Cross College hosted an auction event Thursday night to raise money for NewsCenter16's annual Toys for Tots campaign.
Area businesses and individuals donated items like gift baskets and certificates for the students to auction off, all to raise money to buy presents for deserving children.
Some of the hot ticket items: Notre Dame gear signed by student-athletes and a home-cooked dinner with the college's president.
The students will use the money to buy gifts for needy kids at Meijer and then parade the toys over to our WNDU studios on Saturday morning.
“We get to end off our school semester with a kickoff to the season and it's great to be reminded of other people's generosity and goodness,” said Christina Gonzalez, director of student programming.
Last year the auction raised more than $8,200.
