Elkhart, Ind. Officers say failure to yield is responsible for sending two people to the hospital after an early morning crash in Elkhart.

It happened at the intersection of County Road 15 and Toledo Road, in the industrial park area, at about 4:15 a.m.

Officers say Kevin Shalley was driving across the intersection, when another car driven by Mirna Jimenez suddenly turned out in front of him.

Both passengers in Shalley's car were taken to the hospital with head and back pain. Jimenez was cited for failure to yield.

The road was closed as crews cleaned up the accident.
