PHM hosts violent threat training session for Michiana schools

Over the years, communities across the nation have witnessed a number of fatal school shootings, including those at Virginia Tech in 2007, and Columbine in 1999. Today, the Michiana community focused its attention on preventing such horrific events from happening in the area.

The P.H.M school corporation hosted a free threat assessment training session at Penn High School this afternoon to talk about how to counteract targeted school violence, featuring speakers from Sigma Threat Management.

Mike Seger, Director of Safety and Student Services at Penn High School says “Our concern is to make sure that students are safe,” and that the” number one priority” is to make sure that whatever precautions are necessary to prevent a potential violent act is done.

Seger says that community resources, such as law enforcement officers, social service agents, schools, and administrators, are necessary to prevent such events from happening.
