New Carlisle, Ind. Visitation and Funeral arrangement have been made for Asst. Chief Jamie Middlebrook, a New Carlisle Firefighter killed in the line of duty.
Middlebrook died while fighting in a massive business fire in LaPorte County Tuesday night.
The visitation for Asst. Chief Jamie Middlebrook will be held at Everest-Rohrer Auditorium at Bethel College from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 10.
Middlebrook’s family and a group of firefighters will have a private viewing earlier in the day.
The funeral will also be held at Bethel College on Monday, August 11, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the New Carlisle Cemetery.
“There will be a procession from Bethel to the front of our station there will be a short ceremony,” said Mike Tuszynski of the New Carlisle Fire Dept. “Chief Middlebrook will proceed on Engine 91 with our fire department behind on foot to the New Carlisle Cemetery.”
Tuszynski said the overwhelming support from dozens of local and state emergency agencies since Middlebrook’s death is a good indication of the turnout for the firefighter’s funeral procession.
“There should be a good deal of fire and police apparatus in the procession,” he said. “They allow us to deal with what I think is an impossible situation.”
The exact route for the procession has been determined, and you can see it mapped out on Google Maps here: www.google.com/maps/....
The New Carlisle Fire Dept. wanted to thank all of the police and fire departments that have lent a helping hand over the past couple of days.
“This goes back to the fire on Tuesday, the assistance we received from our neighboring departments was just incredible and the support ever since then has just been overwhelming, it truly has. I can’t thank them enough,” Tuszynski said.
A memorial fund has been set up at 1st Source Bank under the name “New Carlisle Fire Department Jamie Middlebrook Memorial”. Contributions will also be accepted at the Fire Station.
