SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Dozens of South Bend residents took a stand against violence today by turning to their faith.
They gathered at Faith Apostolic Ministry to pray for an end to shootings and other crimes in the community.
They want to encourage people to come together and reach out to the city's youth.
" Unfortunately we've seen some violence and heinous acts lately," said Jonathan Millre, Senior Pastor of Faith Apostolic Ministries. "So we wanted to have event that would bring people together to encourage them and speak out so they take word to the street that we're not going to tolerate the violence."
Some of those in attendance have been directly impacted by the violence.
Organizers also brought in gospel artist Dr. Marvin Sapp to draw even more people to the event.
