The trial for a man accused of murder and then fleeing to Illinois began Tuesday.
Anthony Jefferson, 43, was in court Tuesday beginning his trial after being charged for a number of things, including murder.
Jefferson shot two men in September 2013. Jason Reid was killed in that shooting.
After forcing the woman to withdraw money from an ATM in Mishawaka, Jefferson fled to his mother’s house in Rockford, Illinois where he got into a standoff with police before being arrested.
Jefferson is facing murder, confinement and robbery charges.
Testimony is scheduled to begin Wednesday.
