Fighting breast cancer isn't easy, but Wednesday there was hope and a gathering of survivors.
The South Bend Survivor Luncheon was held Wednesday at the Gillespie Center at the Hilton Garden Inn. The event serves a strong purpose, to help those fighting the disease share their stories of conquering.
“It's great to know there's other people out there to help, in terms of what they could do,” says Laura Ginter the Wellness Program Director at Riverbend Cancer Services. “When a woman or man is going through treatment as well as afterwards, your life changes, everything changes, your priorities are redirected so it’s helpful to know there are other people and you can understand their story, their path. Then learn from that and learn how to model your own life once you've had that experience.”
The event was sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Northern Indiana.
