While Memorial Day is still a little more than a week away, one South Bend neighborhood is getting an early start on parade season.
The annual River Park Parade marched along Mishawaka Avenue Saturday morning. Families lined block after block, with kids ready to catch as much candy as they could.
From vintage cars to baton twirlers, residents got to check out a full roster of entertainment.
“This is definitely new, we just moved here and thought it’d be fun to bring the kids,” said Becky Welch who was at the parade. “They're excited to see everything going on. Its kinds nice to get everyone in the better weather spirit to do stuff outside.”
Even Senator Joe Donnelly got in on the fun, making his way down the parade route as well.
