This weekend two blocks of South Bend will be showcasing everything their neighborhood has to offer from historical homes to a friendly atmosphere.
It's part of the 10th annual arts café sponsored by the Near Northwest Neighborhood.
Two blocks on Cottage Grove will close on Sunday with eight houses on display. Four of the houses are occupied while the other four are for sale.
One house was on a display as a completely vacant and gutted home two years ago during a previous arts café but the homeowner heard about it through another neighbor and decided to buy it.
The Director of the Near Northwest Neighborhood, says Karen Ainsley says, “We really hope it gives people a perspective of what can be done with some of these houses. A lot of times we know with some work these houses can very different. There are hardwood floors, original trim, and that's one of the things we like to showcase… is the potential of the home.”
If you'd like to go the event is on Sunday from 10 to 5 and is free.
The first stop is at the welcome tent at the corner of Portage and California.
There were will be area art work, food, and two main stages set-up for music.
