As the sun sets on Manti Te'o's career, Irish fans are very happy to know Manti hasn't been riding the Ferris Wheel in Santa Monica the last four years.

He could have easily chosen to do that. Instead a pray and good night's sleep helped him choose Notre Dame.

History is now upon him. Because of that decision, Notre Dame is ranked number one in the country as they battle that very USC team that Manti could have chosen. If the Irish win, they will play for the national championship.

So Manti choosing Notre Dame? Yeah--his teammates are quite thankful for that.

"Im thankful he's here," says nose guard Louis Nix. He's my brother. Great guy and I know he'll be a great husband, great father. He's overall a great guy--I'm happy I met him."

"Oh I'm very thankful for that," fellow defensive captain Kapron Lewis-Moore says. "Manti is just one of those guys--you'll probably never going to see a guy like Manti again. Great player, great instincts. He's class act on and off the field. It's pretty cool having him behind me instead of the offense going against him."

And yes... that offense is very happy it doesn't have to battle #5.

Every time we get out of camp, I'm very thankful we're finally done because I'm not playing against Manti anymore," senior wideout John Goodman says with a big smile. "So, I'm definitely thankful for that and it's good to have him on our side."

"Very thankful, very thankful," says center Braxston Cave. "Although if he was on the other team, I would have to knock him out."

Manti's career isn't quite over. He's looking to win Saturday and send the Irish to Sunny Florida for the national ttile game.
