A Michiana native is on a mission to prove his talent on a national stage.
Jason Whicker is a finalist on NBC’s hit show America’s Got Talent.
Whicker currently lives in Indianapolis, but he was raised in Elkhart and still has family in the area.
He performs with a group called Mothmen Dance. They're the first flying troupe in the history of the show.
Jessica Whicker, Jason’s sister, stopped by the WNDU studios recently to tell us more about her brother.
"Jason has been performing, directing, and choreographing in theatre for fifteen years, specifically the aerial arts for the last several years, even starting his own company, On the Fly productions LLC," Jessica explains. "Jason has always said, and is demonstrating to his two children, follow your bliss, don’t let the negativity of others and especially yourself keep you from exploring and working hard for what you love and believe in."
She also shared some insight into the competitive spirit present in the home as they were growing up.
"Sometimes I would not let him dance or sing with my sister and I because I did not think he was good enough," she admits. "He is certainly proving he is more than good enough! I could not be more proud of him. I am one of his biggest fans."
America's Got Talent airs Tuesday night on NBC from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Voting will open at the end of the show, and there are three ways to make your voice heard.
You can vote 10 times through NBC.com or Facebook, 10 times through Google+, and 10 times through the corresponding phone number.
