Alleged Mishawaka home invasion under investigation

Mishawaka, Ind. A Mishawaka couple says they’re victims of an armed home invasion early Friday morning, and it all happened while children were sleeping inside.

Police were called out to the 700-block of Reddick Street shortly after midnight.

Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with the victim, who stated that three black men had approached him and his girlfriend while sitting on their porch.

The three men forced the victims back inside the house and removed items belonging to the victims.

They fled the scene on foot. A Mishawaka Police K-9 searched the area but was unsuccessful.

The suspects were described as three black males with dark clothing and bandanas over their faces. The suspects were possibly 18-20 years old.

One black male was described as very tall and skinny with a "short fro," and the other two were described as short with long dreads.

"You never know nowadays, somebody might just shoot you straight out, you know, pointing a rifle at my girl's head, and you know I got a child and stuff, so I was thinking it out before I got too tough, cause you can't beat somebody with two guns,” said victim Toby Tinsley.

There were three young kids, including a baby, inside sleeping at the time, but the victims say the suspects only got as far as the living room before fleeing.

Anyone that has information pertaining to this case is urged to contact the Mishawaka Police Department Detective Bureau 574-258-1684.
