Storms Friday afternoon caused damage around the area. Lightning fires and fallen trees have been reported in multiple places through Northern Indiana.
One tree hit the sweet spot, landing on this ice cream truck on near County Road 12 in Elkhart.
Billy Bear Ice Cream Owner Billy Holley wasn't in the truck at the time, but his employee ran to the truck just before the tree fell. She wasn't seriously injured but was taken to the hospital with back pain.
"I'm just worried about her. The van you can see yourself is shot,” said Bill Holley owner of Billy Bear Ice Cream. "It saved her life. If it hadn't, it probably would have killed her.”
NIPSCO reports nearly 20,000 homes without power. Indiana Michigan has more than 8,000.
