SCAM ALERT: fake "address change" service

The Better Business Bureau is warning people to look out for a scam affecting the area. This scam originated in Cincinnati, Ohio, but people in Indiana have reported the issue too.

An online advertisement for "Change My Address" or "Form Giant LLC," claims to help you change your address for a fee of $19.95. That supposedly includes postage, processing and handling, plus "more." In fine print, the ad also claims to include the "$1 post office charge." This is a scam because once the fee is paid, the address will still not be changed.

Dreama Jensen, of the Better Business Bureau says in this case, the red flag is easy to spot.

"They even point out this $19.95 includes the dollar fee the post office charges. That should be the red flag to us, 'okay, if they're telling us the post office does it for a dollar, why do we pay them $19.95?' But that is sort of in smaller print, and that isn't what you see right away when you see the ad online," says Jensen.

The Better Business Bureaus in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio, have attempted to contact the company to file a complaint. They have not received a response. At this point, their investigation is pending.

The folks at the Better Business Bureau say the best thing to do if you come across this false advertising, is to contact them at (574) 675-9351 or online, just click here.
