A dream start to its football season has a dramatic end for South Bend Adams High School. The Eagles must forfeit their first two games due to an issue with paperwork from a player who transferred from St. Joseph High School.

Adams was off to its first 4-0 start since 1966 but now their record will reflect 2 and 2.

"This is an error caused by adults," says South Bend School Corporation Director of Athletics Kirby Whitacre who added, "this couldn't be worse for the Adams kids."

Reilly Neuklis transferred from St. Joe during the spring semester of last season. He did not play a sport after transferring. By August his transcripts all showed that he was a South Bend Community Corporation student and athletic department officials did not realize they needed to file transfer paperwork. They thought Neuklis was a student from within their own system.

Obviously, the move was not the fault of the Neuklis family.

This is an ongoing issue in the South Bend schools. A similar incident occured last year for South Bend Washington, as they had to forfeit games due to a paperwork issue with a player.
