Abducted child could be in Michiana area

A child who was abducted from Detroit could be in the Michiana area.

Carmela Jackson, 35, took Zoie Jackson, 5, from her school Tuesday.

Carmela Jackson is the child’s mother, but she has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and does not have custody.

WOOD-TV reports that the pair may be heading to the Elkhart area, driving a black 2002 Lexus crossover truck with Michigan license plate CMR0252.

Zoie is described as about four feet tall and 62 pounds. She has braided, shoulder-length hair. She was last seen wearing a red shirt, black pants and black boots with fur around the top. She also had a black and pink backpack.

Carmela Jackson is described as a 5-foot-6, 150-pound female with brown hair and eyes. It is not known what type of clothing she was wearing.

Anyone with information should contact police.
