The agency looked at 10 low cost cities where retirees can live in comfort. South Bend came in at number nine. It was favored for its cheaper rent prices and access to city transportation. Researchers also liked the variety of activities and events that Notre Dame provides for the community.
Nearby Grand Rapids also made the list.
