Summer time is a great time for family reunions and this week one local woman is hosting her sisters after 62 years.
At the KOA camp ground in Granger, Marti Riffle is enjoying the week with four of her sisters.
They were split up as children and put into foster care.
Now, the last time they were all together around the time this picture was taken in 1948 as the four sisters sat with their mom outside their South Bend home.
Four of them did get together at the same time in 1973.
And today, they were laughing it up with Anne Gardner, a daughter who used Facebook and the Internet to find everyone.
Gardner said she has found a second mother.
I found out that I am more like my Aunt Marti than I am my mom,” Gardner said. “Which doesn't make her mom happy at all but, it’s good to reconnect from family. It’s not good to be taken away and moved so far away.
The sisters did have five other siblings who were born after they were put into foster care.
Tragically their mother and four of the children died in a fire of their Chicago home.
The ladies encourage everyone to stay connected to your family, no matter how long it has been.
