A Winona Lake woman is facing charges after a two-year-old suffered a skull fracture while in her care.
Karen Bartley, 35, was arrested Thursday afternoon following a three-week long investigation. She faces preliminary charges of child neglect, and causing serious bodily injury.
In mid-December, Bartley and her fiancé, the toddler's father, brought the little girl to the ER because she was vomiting. It was later determined her skull had been fractured.
Bartley originally told police the child had thrown a temper tantrum, and had repeatedly struck the back of her head against the floor.
But after doctors said the injuries didn't match up with her story, she admitted to becoming "overly aggressive" while playing with the toddler the day she was hurt.
Bartley is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail.
