Immigration has been a hot button topic over the past year, but on Tuesday some local business owners made some strides to ease confusion.
The Elkhart Chamber of Commerce held an immigration workshop Tuesday morning.
The event was geared around clearing up any questions people have about business, immigration and the government's role.
Organizers say illegal immigration and customs enforcement are the biggest concerns.
“I was giving advice to employers on how they can get their house in order and make sure they don't become a target of an ICE investigation, and if they do how they can be positioned best to avoid liability,” said Mike Palmer, of Barnes and Thornburg.
About 30 Michiana businesses were represented at the meeting.
