The Commission on State Tax and Finance Policy will hold its final informational meeting this afternoon.
Senator Luke Kenley says the group hopes to focus on property tax solutions after today's meeting.
The panel of lawmakers and outside tax experts is exploring ways of reducing local government's reliance on property taxes. It may have recommendations for the General Assembly to consider as early as an organization day in November.
The group is focusing on the issue this summer and fall because a variety of factors is expected to increase property taxes on homeowners 24 percent on average statewide this year.
