One hour of your time can leave a lasting impression on children in our community.
South Bend schools are looking for six-thousand mentors for elementary school students.
Earlier today Tricia Sloma sat down with South Bend School Superintendent Dr. Robert Zimmerman to talk about how you can lend a hand.
Dr. Zimmerman says spending just one hour with a student once a week can transform a child's life.
Superintendent of South Bend Schools, Dr. Robert Zimmerman says, "It gives an opportunity generally to do a little reading with a child work on some math facts and also just to get to know them and let them know that there's somebody there that cares about them!"
Schools are willing to accommodate any schedule.
For more information on the Mentoring Program call 574-283-8044 and Dr. Zimmerman will certainly practice what he preaches.
He tries to get around to every school and every classroom in South Bend to meet and talk to students.
