Two people are in the hospital after a crash at a busy intersection in St. Joseph County.
Indiana State Police say a westbound car was rear-ended on State Road 2 at Quince Road, around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Three people were injured, and two were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police say there are accidents at Quince and 2 often, not because the crossing is particularly dangerous, but because people simply don't pay attention.
"It doesn't appear to be a dangerous intersection,” said Sgt. Trent Smith of the Indiana State Police. “It's flat, it's controlled by a traffic light…a lot of it sometimes is just driver inattention. They're looking at something else or talking to someone else or their attention is distracted, and before you know it they're involved in a crash."
The area is regularly patrolled by officers, and one had gone through the intersection just moments before the crash.
Back in February, one man was killed in a crash at the same intersection.
