After 26 years with the department, Penn Township's fire chief was fired Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday afternoon, Penn Township Trustee Jeff Dean told NewsCenter 16 that Dale Wallick was fired after spending two-and-a-half years as chief. Dean says there were issues that came up, and the department could not continue on this path.

Dean would not reveal any other details about Wallick's termination.

John Snyder has been appointed the interim fire chief, and Dean says they are accepting applications for a new, permanent chief.
