While many people got the day off from work on Monday, some mouths were working overtime in Mishawaka.

Fourteen hungry people scarfed down as many hot dogs as possible during a hot dog eating contest put on by Waka Dog Monday morning.

Some competitors dipped their dogs in water, others separated their hot dogs to get them down.

Despite a variety of techniques, there could only be one winner: it was Chris Englehart, who ate a whopping 13 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

"My strategy: just dunk, don't pay attention to that person beside me, just eat as much as I can,” said Englehart. "I'm feeling pretty tight in the stomach right now, but I think I'll get through it in about another half-hour…it was definitely worth it...a nice free lunch. What more could you ask for?"

Englehart planned to take a long nap after his big win. He said he probably won't have another hot dog for at least six months.

Englehart is pictured above at the contest; he is the one wearing a light blue shirt.
