A replica of the famous ship, the Nina, arrived in St. Joe on Tuesday. The legendary ship of explorer Christopher Columbus was part of a trio, which also included the Pinta and the Santa Maria.
Since its recreation in 1992, it has been making its way through ports all over the United States.
The tour educates people about the explorer and the voyages that he took on the Nina.
“It’s a floating museum; it’s the only floating museum in the world. We brought it here for you guys to come on down. You walk around the ship, there’re crew members that will answer your questions, there is a video presentation,” explains Jameson Marquardt, the second mate of the ship.
The ship has visited all of the Great Lakes this summer, with Benton Harbor as the last stop on the Great Lakes Tour.
Tours of the Nina begin on Wednesday and will continue through Tuesday, August 21st.
