A huge donation from the city of South Bend will help area youth achieve their dreams.
Designs for the Kroc Salvation Army Community Center were unveiled on Tuesday morning and South Bend is donating one million dollars to the fundraising effort.
Construction on the complex is expected to begin next year at the corner of Western and Chapin Streets.
When finished, the center will feature several programs including education, recreation and fine arts.
“Youth and families are going to have the opportunity, with the completion of this facility, to discover and achieve their dreams, whatever that may be,” said Nicholas Montgomery, with the Salvation Army.
The Kroc Center is about halfway to its ten million dollar fundraising goal.
